Physical Therapy on Long Island

Physical therapy on Long Island, built around you. At Thrive Health, your sessions are personal, focused, and hands-on. Your therapist takes the time to understand what is really driving your pain or injury, then builds a plan that resolves it rather than just quieting the symptom for a day. We keep our schedule deliberately lower-volume so you get genuine one-on-one attention, with skilled aides supporting your program so every minute of your visit moves you forward. We treat patients across Smithtown, East Setauket, Sayville, and Westhampton Beach, and we verify and bill your insurance for you.

Personal, Focused, Hands-On Care

We practice differently from the high-volume clinics. Your therapist works with you directly, gives you their attention, and adjusts your plan visit by visit as you progress. Skilled aides assist with your exercises and program so your time is used well, while your therapist stays focused on the hands-on work that drives results. It is a boutique approach to a clinical problem: fewer patients at once, more attention on you.

Because we keep volume lower and bill on an out-of-network basis, we can give recovery the time it actually takes. The result is a plan built around the root cause of your problem and a team that knows your case, your goals, and your progress.

  • Personal, one-on-one attention from your therapist, with skilled aides supporting your program

  • A deliberately lower-volume schedule, so visits are focused, not rushed

  • A plan built around the root cause, not just the symptom

  • Insurance verified and billed for you on an out-of-network basis

  • Convenient care across four Long Island locations

No Referral Needed to Get Started

You do not need a doctor’s referral to begin physical therapy with us. Under New York’s direct access law, you can be evaluated and start treatment without a referral for up to 30 days or 10 visits, whichever comes first. If a referral does turn out to be medically necessary for your situation, we have medical staff on premises to handle it, so you are not sent away to chase down paperwork before you can get relief.

A few situations do require a referral up front (for example, Medicare, no-fault, and workers’ compensation cases), and we will tell you clearly where you stand when you call. To get started, call us or use the Request an Appointment form, and we will verify your benefits and schedule you.

Conditions Treated with Physical Therapy

Physical therapy is a proactive, evidence-based approach to healthcare that goes beyond treating symptoms to address the root causes of pain, injury, and dysfunction. Our licensed physical therapists work in close collaboration with your physician to create a personalized treatment plan designed to restore movement, improve strength, reduce pain, and enhance your overall function. As a medically recognized service, these treatments are often eligible for coverage under your health insurance plan. Whether you are recovering from surgery, managing a chronic condition, or seeking to prevent future injury, physical therapy can help you achieve your health and wellness goals.

Frequently Asked Questions

What conditions does physical therapy treat?

We treat a wide range of pain, injury, and post-surgical conditions, including neck and back pain, arthritis, tendonitis, plantar fasciitis, headaches, balance and vertigo (BPPV), and fibromyalgia, along with injury recovery and rehab for rotator cuff issues, ACL, MCL, and meniscus injuries, fractures, sports injuries, post-surgical recovery, and work or overuse injuries. If you are not sure whether physical therapy is right for your situation, call us and we will help you find out.

Do I need a referral to start physical therapy?

No. You do not need a doctor’s referral to begin. Under New York’s direct access law, you can be evaluated and start treatment without a referral for up to 30 days or 10 visits, whichever comes first. If a referral turns out to be medically necessary for your situation, we have medical staff on premises to handle it. A few cases, such as Medicare, no-fault, and workers’ compensation, do require a referral up front, and we will tell you clearly where you stand when you call.

Does insurance cover physical therapy at Thrive Health?

We work with most major plans on an out-of-network basis, including the Empire Plan, NYSHIP, BCBS, Aetna, and CIGNA. We verify your benefits before you start and bill your insurance for you, so you know what to expect. Call us or use the Request an Appointment form and we will check your coverage.

What is the first physical therapy visit like?

Your first visit is a one-on-one evaluation. Your therapist takes the time to understand your history, assess how you move, and identify what is really driving your pain or injury. From there you will get a clear plan built around the root cause, and treatment usually begins the same day. You will leave knowing your diagnosis, your plan, and your next step.

Will I see the same therapist each visit?

Yes. We keep our schedule deliberately lower-volume so your care stays personal and consistent. Your therapist works with you directly and knows your case, your goals, and your progress, while skilled aides support your exercises and program so every minute of your visit moves you forward.

Where are your physical therapy locations?

We treat patients across four Long Island locations: Smithtown, East Setauket, Sayville, and Westhampton Beach. Call us or use the Request an Appointment form to schedule at the location most convenient for you.
