Treated at all four Suffolk County offices
Fertility treatment is relentless and most of it is out of your hands. Acupuncture is something you can do. It is well tolerated alongside IVF and IUI, it has been studied more than most people realise, and we will be straight with you about what that research actually shows.
If you recognized yourself in more than one of those, that is enough to book. You do not need a diagnosis to come in, and you do not need a referral to start.
This one sits with our acupuncture team. Your plan is built by a licensed acupuncturist, and we bring in the rest of the practice only if you need it.
Courses run over several weeks, started before stimulation where your calendar allows. That pattern has been studied more favourably than a single session on transfer day. We work around your clinic's schedule rather than asking them to work around ours.
Point work with no needles, plus two or three points you can use yourself on the harder days between appointments.
1
We work out the cause
A full history and a hands-on exam. We look at how you move, not only where it hurts, so the plan targets the thing driving the pain.
2
Treatment starts the same day
You are treated on the first visit in most cases. No waiting for a second appointment to begin.
3
We reassess as you go
We check progress at set points and adjust. If something is not working we change it or tell you honestly that we are not the right fit.
We accept The Empire Plan/NYSHIP, BlueCross BlueShield, Aetna, Cigna, Medicare and UnitedHealthcare, and other plans that have out-of-network coverage. We check your benefits before your first visit and tell you what you will owe, so nothing lands on you at the front desk.
We handle the billing. In most cases you pay a co-insurance amount at the visit and we take it from there.
Not every plan covers every service, and coverage depends on medical necessity. A few plans place us outside their network. When that happens we still file the claim for you and give you the cost in writing before you book.

This is a large research area, with well over a hundred randomised trials, and what it shows depends heavily on what is measured and what it is compared against. The most solid finding is that women report less anxiety through IVF when acupuncture is part of it. Compared with no added treatment, several reviews report higher clinical pregnancy rates, though that difference does not hold against a dummy needle. The largest carefully controlled trial found no difference in live birth rates, and we will not tell you otherwise. What the timing research does suggest is that courses run over weeks were studied more favourably than the single transfer-day session most clinics sell.

See a reproductive endocrinologist if you have been trying twelve months under 35, six months at 35 or over, or straight away at 40, or sooner with irregular cycles, endometriosis, prior pelvic surgery or repeated loss. We never advise changing, pausing or delaying anything your fertility clinic has prescribed. Severe pelvic pain, rapid swelling, breathlessness or sudden weight gain after stimulation needs your clinic the same day.
We cannot tell you that, and you should be wary of any clinic that does. The largest carefully controlled trial found no difference in live birth rates. What the research does support is that people feel less anxious through treatment, which is worth something in a process this hard.
Earlier than most people think. The studies that looked at timing found courses starting weeks before stimulation were studied more favourably than a single session on transfer day. If you already have a transfer date, we will still see you.
Yes, and around their schedule. We will never suggest changing anything they have prescribed, and we are happy for them to know exactly what we are doing.
Yes, with a licensed acupuncturist who knows where you are in your cycle. We avoid certain points and areas once transfer has happened. Bring your dates and your medication list.
Not without your fertility clinic knowing. Interactions with stimulation protocols are a real concern and not one worth taking a chance on.
Then it does not, and we will not pretend it was down to something you did or did not do. We are one supportive piece of a much bigger process.
Acupuncture may help with anxiety, and is offered alongside whatever else you are already doing.
