Treated at all four Suffolk County offices
Standing up should not cost you the rest of the day. We work alongside the cardiologist or neurologist who diagnosed you, on graded reconditioning that starts lying down, and we offer acupuncture as supportive care for the symptoms that grind you down.
If you recognized yourself in more than one of those, that is enough to book. You do not need a diagnosis to come in, and you do not need a referral to start.
Most people do best on a combination. Your first visit sorts out which of these you actually need, and in what order.
A slow, graded reconditioning plan that starts recumbent, on a rowing machine or recumbent bike, well before any upright work. Heart specialists currently rate structured exercise as the most effective approach that is not a medication. We go at your pace and we watch for post-exertional crashes rather than pushing through them.
Offered as supportive and palliative care for the symptoms that come with POTS, such as nausea, poor sleep, headaches and pain. There are no controlled trials of acupuncture in POTS, so we will not tell you it treats the condition itself. Many people want it and find it helps them cope, and we treat you lying down.
1
We work out the cause
A full history and a hands-on exam. We look at how you move, not only where it hurts, so the plan targets the thing driving the pain.
2
Treatment starts the same day
You are treated on the first visit in most cases. No waiting for a second appointment to begin.
3
We reassess as you go
We check progress at set points and adjust. If something is not working we change it or tell you honestly that we are not the right fit.
We accept The Empire Plan/NYSHIP, BlueCross BlueShield, Aetna, Cigna, Medicare and UnitedHealthcare, and other plans that have out-of-network coverage. We check your benefits before your first visit and tell you what you will owe, so nothing lands on you at the front desk.
We handle the billing. In most cases you pay a co-insurance amount at the visit and we take it from there.
Not every plan covers every service, and coverage depends on medical necessity. A few plans place us outside their network. When that happens we still file the claim for you and give you the cost in writing before you book.

Heart Rhythm Society consensus rates a regular, structured and progressive exercise program as effective for POTS, and that is the part of what we do with real backing behind it. It is hard work, dropout in the published programs runs high, and it needs your physician to clear you first. Acupuncture has not been tested in controlled trials for POTS. We offer it as supportive care for symptoms, and we would rather say that plainly than dress it up.

POTS is diagnosed by a physician, usually cardiology or neurology, and we work alongside that diagnosis rather than making it. Fainting that injures you, fainting on exertion, chest pain or a new irregular heartbeat need cardiology before anything else. In the clinic we treat you lying down, sit you up slowly and never leave you alone on the table, because feeling faint during a session is the real risk.
No. That is a physician's job and it needs proper standing heart rate testing. If you suspect POTS and have not been assessed, start with your doctor and we will work alongside whatever they find.
There is no controlled research showing that it does, and we are not going to claim it. What people tell us is that it helps with the nausea, the sleep and the pain that come along with it. If that is useful to you, we are glad to offer it.
If it is done the usual way, often yes. A POTS program starts lying down and builds by very small steps, and we back off when you flare rather than pushing you through it.
It changes the pace, quite a lot. Tell us at the first visit so we plan for it instead of finding out the hard way.
You will be lying down, someone stays with you, and we stop. It is a common enough thing that we plan for it rather than react to it.
Acupuncture may help with anxiety, and is offered alongside whatever else you are already doing.
