Treated at all four Suffolk County offices
Carpal tunnel wakes you at three in the morning and has you shaking your hand out to settle it. We treat it at four Suffolk County offices with hand therapy, splint fitting and acupuncture, and we tell you early if what you actually need is a surgical opinion.
If you recognized yourself in more than one of those, that is enough to book. You do not need a diagnosis to come in, and you do not need a referral to start.
Most people do best on a combination. Your first visit sorts out which of these you actually need, and in what order.
Hands-on work through the wrist and forearm, nerve glides, and getting a night splint fitted and actually worn correctly. This is the part with the best support behind it.
Used alongside the hand work rather than on its own. That is how it has been studied, and that is where it showed a benefit.
1
We work out the cause
A full history and a hands-on exam. We look at how you move, not only where it hurts, so the plan targets the thing driving the pain.
2
Treatment starts the same day
You are treated on the first visit in most cases. No waiting for a second appointment to begin.
3
We reassess as you go
We check progress at set points and adjust. If something is not working we change it or tell you honestly that we are not the right fit.
We accept The Empire Plan/NYSHIP, BlueCross BlueShield, Aetna, Cigna, Medicare and UnitedHealthcare, and other plans that have out-of-network coverage. We check your benefits before your first visit and tell you what you will owe, so nothing lands on you at the front desk.
We handle the billing. In most cases you pay a co-insurance amount at the visit and we take it from there.
Not every plan covers every service, and coverage depends on medical necessity. A few plans place us outside their network. When that happens we still file the claim for you and give you the cost in writing before you book.

Hand therapy has real support for easing carpal tunnel symptoms. One trial found manual therapy matched surgery for function at three, six and twelve months, though it was compared against surgery rather than a dummy treatment. Acupuncture has mainly been studied as an add-on, where it improved symptom scores alongside splinting or medication but not on its own. Orthopaedic guidelines are clear that non-surgical care may not change the long-term course, so we reassess early rather than keep you booking visits.

Numbness that is constant rather than coming and going, visible muscle loss at the base of the thumb, real weakness, or symptoms that started after a wrist injury all need a hand surgeon or neurologist rather than conservative care. If you are not improving after about six weeks we will say so and help you get nerve conduction testing.
No, and we will not tell you it can. Conservative care helps a lot of people with mild to moderate symptoms. If the nerve is compressed enough to cause constant numbness or muscle loss, surgery is the right answer and waiting can cost you function.
Usually yes, at night. It is one of the more effective parts of conservative care, and most people are wearing the wrong size or wearing it wrong. We fit it and check it.
Most people have a clear sense inside four to six weeks. We set that checkpoint at the start so you are not guessing.
Usually the forearm and hand. Acupuncture is added to the hand therapy rather than used alone, because that is how the research supports it.
Most major plans cover both physical therapy and acupuncture. We check your benefits before the first visit and tell you the cost.
